Topic Brainstorm
I have been looking forward to reading more stories based in Mexico. I grew up hearing a few like La Llorona, which is included in this book, but there are many more that seem interesting like the Legend of the Obedient Dead Nun and The Callejon del Muerto. I am excited to read these tales and I'm not sure how I would like to retell them yet. I want to get a better sense of the stories first.

This next book is one that I am really interested in. It covers not only mythology but it ties in ancient races and civilization, which I have never read about. It covers both Mexico, which is my where my family is from, and Peru, which is a country I have always been interested in and always wanted to visit. I am not familiar with any mythology mentioned but I have the idea of modernizing it when retelling them and putting them in today's context. I think it'll be definitely interesting considering there are a few sections on Human Sacrifice.
I have been interested in Greek Mythology since I was young and I would like to say that I am somewhat informed in the subject. But I would like to learn more about the details and the different branches of both Greek and Roman mythology. I would definitely like to retell the tales and descriptions of the Gods and Goddesses in a way that modernizes and humanizes them. I also think it would be interesting to retell the heroes as well as creation of mankind in a more comedic way.
The only time I looked forward to English class in high school was when we were reading Shakespeare. So when I saw a book on the folklore in Shakespeare's work, I was intrigued. I am excited to learn about things that exist in his worlds including fairies and witches. I am also looking forward to learn more about marriage, death and burial, and folk medicine. I am not sure yet on how I want to approach this retelling yet.
