Reading Notes: Chinese Fairy Tales, Part A

This week I chose to read about Chinese Fairy Tales. There was one story that I found familiar but the rest had unknown plots to me and I enjoyed read them.
The first story I wanted to write notes about was The Favorite of Fortune and the Child of Ill Luck. I feel as though there are many ways to retell this story, it is possible to take a romantic, dramatic or even comedic approach to it. The most important characters were the princess and the beggar, the unlucky and the lucky respectively. If I was to retell this story I would like to focus more on the relationship and the aspects of their relationship with luck in an everyday approach. I would most likely add a comedic value to their relationship with luck and focus with a more romantic approach on the interactions shown.
The second story that I enjoyed was that of  Why Dog and Cat are Enemies. Like the Jewish version, I would like to take these two main characters and humanize them. Maybe place them in an everyday situation where the same style of plot can happen. I'm still not sure in what direction I want to take the story but I enjoy thinking of different ideas. I certain that I would like to stick to the original ending but maybe change a few aspects of it.
