Reading Notes: American Indian Tales, Part A

This week I chose to read some children's fairy tale from the Native American readings. I enjoyed reading all the stories but I only came up with an idea for retelling the story for one of them.

They story of The Child of the Evening Star, I feel has many options available for retelling. There were many great plot points that could be told in a new manner. The aspect that I wanted to focus on was the relationship of Oweenee and Osseo. I want the retelling to take place in modern time. I would keep most of the main points of the plot, but change the details. I liked the idea of turning the sisters into friends who are all in relationships, and they're pressuring Oweenee to start dating someone. I'm still trying to work out how Osseo will 'transform' into someone attractive in a realistic setting. I have an idea but I need to work on some of the details. I also wouldn't want to give any ending away here. The storytelling would probably take place over the course of a few days. That's my current plan/idea.
