Reading Notes: Pygmalion
I enjoyed reading all the stories and found them all interesting especially the one on Tricksters. But I chose to do my notes over another story that peaked my interest and stood out to me more.
I like reading tales about metamorphosis and the different applications and interpretations it has in stories. Pygmalion is definitely an interesting character, considering he created his perfect girl out of ivory and fell deeply in love with his art and its beauty. But that is not something strange in Greek Mythology, Pandora was the first woman in Greek Mythology and she was formed out of clay by Hepheastus. Something that I would have liked to see was a bit more humanization of the ivory girl, which I will try to incorporate into my telling. I would really like to develop the relationship between them, now that it is not so heavily one-sided and purely based on appearance. I would like to imagine that when Venus made her human and sentient, she had Pygmalion interests and ideas in mind, which is something I would like to include in my version.
