Growth Mindset Thoughts

This is the first time I have heard of Carol Dweck and the idea of the growth mindset. I have definitely grown up with a fixed mindset. I think part of the reason why was that my parents could not praise me on the process because they did not understand it themselves. They were just aware that A's meant a good thing and went off of that. The fixed mindset has definitely at times caused more harm than good. Therefore, I agree with the growth mindset and will try to apply it in my learning from now on. I am still becoming aware of my learning habits, a lot of my habits transferred from high school and I need to drop the ones that are based on the fixed mindset in order to better my learning abilities. One of the challenges I face is the immense focus on my GPA that originated from my high school days, it sometimes gets in the way of my learning. I think I would be interested in learning more about the growth mindset this summer. I hope that I can apply this mindset in my organic chemistry course this semester.
